Your details, kept simple.
This page explains what happens to the details you send me through the brief form or by email. Last updated 13 October 2026.
Who I am
Brief & Design is a one-person design studio run by David as a sole trader in the UK. I decide how your details are used. You can reach me at hello@briefanddesign.co.uk.
What I collect
When you send a brief, I receive your name, your business name (if you add it), your email address, what you need, a rough budget, any deadline, whether it's urgent and what you write about your project. If you email me directly, I receive whatever is in your email.
If you start the form and leave before sending, your browser keeps an unsent draft so a reload doesn't lose it. That draft stays on your own device, is never sent to me, and is cleared once you send the brief.
The website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. I use Cloudflare's visitor statistics, which count visits without cookies and without identifying you.
Why I use it
Only to reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and, if we work together, run your project. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries. I never sell your details or add you to a mailing list.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts this website and runs the spam check on the form.
- Resend delivers the form's email to my inbox.
- Microsoft 365 holds my email.
Each one only handles your details to provide that service. Some of them may process data outside the UK, under the safeguards UK law requires.
How long I keep it
If we don't go ahead, I delete your enquiry within 12 months. If we do work together, I keep project emails and files for as long as I need them for the work, my accounts and any legal requirements, usually up to 6 years for financial records.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details I hold about you, to correct them or to delete them, or object to how I use them. Email hello@briefanddesign.co.uk and I'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
