Concept project Brand identity

Kerrow

An identity for a small workshop of furniture makers, built the way they build furniture.

The idea

The K is made of exactly two parts: a stem with a mortise, and a chevron carrying a tenon. Joined, they make the letter. That joint became the rule for everything else.

How the K is made

  1. The oak stem and, beside it, the chevron with its tenon drawn hatched, 36 mm apart.

    01 Two parts

  2. A section through the stem, showing the tenon passing right through it.

    02 The tenon passes through

  3. The finished mark: a graphite K with the tenon’s end shown as a red square.

    03 Its end shows red

Everything is measured in 18 mm, the board thickness the K is drawn in: stroke, grid, margins and spacing.
