Concept project Identity & experience

Maren House

An identity and guest experience for a restaurant with rooms on the estuary.

The idea

One low evening light travels across everything a guest touches. The identity is quiet on purpose: a blind emboss, copper foil and stitching only show their detail when the light grazes them.

Materials and the tide

  1. The tide line blind-embossed into cotton paper, caught by a low light.

    Blind emboss

  2. The top of the menu: HIGH WATER 18:42 · LOW WATER 00:57 above Maren House in copper foil.

    Tide times · copper foil

  3. Close-up of the No. 4 room tag and its brass eyelet.

    Letterpress · brass eyelet

  4. The pillow card, Sleep well, HIGH WATER TOMORROW 06:58, above a tide line embroidered in green thread.

  5. The preserve box lid with Maren House and the tide line in copper foil.

  6. The copper sign letters and their shadows on the lime-washed wall.

The tide line is the one motif: embossed, foiled and embroidered. Tonight’s high water is on the menu, tomorrow morning’s on the pillow card.
